FUTURE PARTIES
[B]Hello Folks,
I am finally reporting on the party last month. It has taken awhile to get myself into the reporting mode.
First of all I want to say thank you to everyone that did attend and support the cause.. As always we do have a good time. Of course it was definitely under attended. Seems many that said they would be there weren't. Yes, it was a negative thing for me. So I have chosen to give a bit of info as to costs of parties.
There have been 2 parties in the past that I was in the red. Those I chose to deal with quietly. But this one was a bad one. Suffice it to say we will no longer be supporting the Holiday Inn. Talk about putting me through a wringer. A lot of misinformation, too many people handling things, over charging my personal account etc. When all was said and done, I personally lost over $2200.00.. Yes that was after what was collected at the party. Not only was there a cost on the food, the room, the bartenders etc. There was a 22% gratuity on all of it. Just for that amount of food I paid over $500 in service charges. There was a quota that needed to be met on a sliding scale for the room. It depended on the food bought and the amount of alcohol. Unfortunately many of you chose to drink in your rooms. I paid big time for the bar tenders and was well under the mark there. Where was the support?
I know many have expressed their desire to help if I ever needed it. I have always felt I was doing the parties and it was my responsibility. But this one hurt. Not enough support from folks. If this happens again I will have to say no to any future hosting. Not something I want to do, but I just can't afford thousands of dollars. Trust me folks, the expenses for what you get are high. Our DJ isn't there for free either. And he has worked with me a couple of times and I don't want to lose him. I have already been looking for another site and will keep everyone informed. But I am also thinking there will need to be some changes made. I will follow later with some ideas that have been discussed. In the meantime, I welcome any ideas etc. I do want to continue with these things. They are in my blood.
Until later, |

LOM to get the discount book 30 days in advance.....
Also could set up a Paypal account.... those attending that pay door fee in advance get the 20.00 a head price, those paying at the door 25.00 just a few suggestions.

~~~~ Thank you for your input. I know the 2 of you have always been great supporters. And make a great Jello Shot.... I would just love to see more like you. ~~~~ Your idea of the pay in advance discount has been one of my thoughts. A paypal account could be set up and could be beneficial to many. Paying a month or so in advance would give more funds later for follks to enjoy the party with. And of course help me with in advance costs. Would love to hear from more on this. ~~~~ Again Kev, thank you LadyM
I understand what you mean about being on a budget. And the prepay would help that a lot. But as to no food or drink at a party. Hmmmm pretty dull party first of all. Secondly, in order to acquire a room at most any establishment, you have to agree to a certain amount of food and or drink. No place will serve alcohol without food being available. Oregon law. Otherwise the cost is too prohibitive. Unfortunately the Holiday Inn was too excessive. Ergo my reason for looking elsewhere.
But it is my desire to make averyone happy. And purchasing a few drinks can't be too bad to help keep the parties going. Just supporting your local party animals. I welcome your input and will keep working on our next adventure. LadyM
~~~First of all.. Thank you. As you know I do enjoy doing the parties. Hopefully we will continue to have them. A big thank you to all who supported the party and the Monarch Hotel. It was a wonderful venue.. rgbb8, ~~~As to the timeframe of the party. It was the only opening the hotel had. And yes, I do keep track of the timeframe and folks that have kids. The weekend just before would have been the one most activities would have taken place. ~~~~Now as to ditching the food. Oregon does have laws regarding food and alcohol. Something we can't ignore. The biggest reason for the food....... the cost of the room rental is contingent on food sales. It would cost a lot more to waive the food. And in the many years I have been doing this, no one has complained with having appetizers. This particular event was the best yet as to food selection. The Monarch did a marvelous job with the food. And I didn't even partake of all their selections. There is more to look forward to. I will continue to do my best and will look for the support of all that like to party. Until the next time, let's hear from more of you. LadyM
